We are excited to announce that we have added a kid jam to take place during the Bluegrass at Oolenoy nights, which are the first and third nights of each month at the Oolenoy Community Center in Pumpkintown, SC. High school students, Logan Redding and Andrew Dennis have agreed to head up this jam that is open to students of any age. The jam will take place from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm on the back porch of the Oolenoy Community Center. The first kid jam took place on June 3rd.
Logan is a 10th grader at Pickens High School and has been teaching in the after-school program for two years. He is a YAM alumni and also a Sweet Potato Pie Kid alumni. Currently, he plays the banjo for the band Left Lane. Andrew, a 9th grader at Pickens High School is also a YAM and Sweet Potato Pie Kid alumni. He has been teaching in the after-school program for a year.
Parents need to be on the premises during the jams. After the kid jam the kids are invited to join the larger jams that take place in other rooms. This is a great way for the students to become more involved with bluegrass music and it will help them learn and improve their individual playing skills.
